Courtyard, Cobbles, Stile, Hopscotch and Barn; five farm-based, characterful cottages, accommodating 8-9 people. Set in beautiful farmland and close to the Jurassic Coast, the cottages enjoy all you'd expect in a 'home from home' holiday home. In each cottage there is a living/dining space with a wood burning stove, two or three (Courtyard) bath/shower rooms and three or four (Courtyard) bedrooms. The kitchens are new, modern and close enough to the living/dining are that the chef will not feel left out. Four of our cottages have a downstairs bedroom and shower room. Two of our cottages can be interlinked to provide a spacious family/friends getaway, one is adapted for wheelchair users and we are happy to invite your dog/cat to stay for a modest cost towards additional cleaning. The individual private gardens link to a larger lawned area where children can play, families meet and mix, barbecue and generally have fun.

We spent a lovely 4 nights in stile cottage. It was wonderful to receive a warm welcome, and then relax so quickly into the cottage - as it was so thoughtfully set up, spotlessly clean, plenty of space and comfortable. Fresh flowers and fruit are a nice touch too which we appreciated- we would love to return.

Tips:

There is a lovely walk from the farm into the village and then onto the stunning beach, we all thoroughly enjoyed that. Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Portland, Chesil beach and Durdle door are all within easy reach and beautiful.

This is our second visit to Graston Farm, we love it. We love the relaxed environment and the area it’s in. Andrew and Chrissie make us feel so welcome. My son loves the feeding of the animals and the great space to play. Perfect too if you have dogs, lots of lovely walks close by.

Tips:

The three horseshoes in the village is lovely. I would advise booking and Hive Beach Cafe is great for breakfast after a lovely beach walk.

A lovely little retreat within a stone’s throw of Burton Bradstock village and Hive Beach. This was our second stay, and we’ll be back again.

Tips:

Highly recommend breakfast at The Hive Cafe and am afternoon drink at The Seaside Boarding House... Burton Bradstock is a lovely village to walk around as well, with 2 pubs close by to keep you hydrated ;-) West Bay is beautiful for a walk, with lovely cafes and local shops to browse. Bridport is so close and worth a visit (tip tip - the curry house there (Coriander) will deliver to Grayson Farm).

Would certainly recommend to friends without mobility issues but not ideal for my mother who has. Felt she was a bit isolated from upstairs rooms for needing help, found single bed not particularly comfortable or easy to get out of due to wooden outer framework and had difficulty in turning on shower and regulating water pressure.

Tips:

The Anchor was especially good for food but would not recommend the Seaside Boarding House which seemed expensive for what was served and limited choice anyway. Enjoyed trip to the Swannery and found good short round walk from farm to Shipton Gorge and back.

Hi Julian sorry mother didn't find it so easy to get about, but glad you enjoyed your stay. We are careful not to describe Hopscotch as 'disabled' since we set out to make it accessible for people with mobility issues, not DDA compliant. I hope it didn't spoil Mothers stay with us. A lovely spacious well equipped cottage in a quiet rural setting. We stayed in Hopscotch which has the benefit of the ground floor bedroom and en-suite which was ideal for my parents. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed the enclosed garden as well as their walks across the fields. We would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Tips:

The Three Horseshoes pub in the village is very welcoming and serves great food. We highly recommend booking in advance as even during the week they get very busy! The brewery tour at Palmers in Bridport was very interesting and informative well worth the money especially as you get a tankard and some free samples at the end!

Received a very warm welcome. Cottage was very spacious and comfortable with quality furnishings and had everything we needed including highchair, cot and safety gate for our 2 year old grandson. Graston Farm is a really lovely, peaceful and friendly place. We had a lovely week here. The cottages are within an easy walk on well marked paths across the fields to burton bradstock village with its two pubs, shop etc. Andy and Chrissy have done a wonderful job in building the cottages, incorporating old beams while making the rooms spacious and functional. It is ideal for families and our toddler loved feeding the lambs and calves with Andy and the other children staying there. The fruit bowl and case of flowers were a lovely touch to arrive to.

Tips:

We ate at the Hive Beach cafe and the Three Horseshoes and both were excellent. The walk to the Bea h takes about fifteen minutes on top of the walk to the village (so about half an hr all in) and is well worth it. It’s all mostly off road along paths by streams. The cottages come with dishwasher and washing machine tablets but not tea/coffee/sugar so bring that down for your first morning’s cuppa. Bridport is fifteen minutes away by car and has several supermarkets as well as lovely small shops (Leakers bakery was great).

Burton Bradstock is a pretty village with two great pubs. Can recommend the Three Horseshoes and the Anchor. Hive beach cafe a 45 minute walk from the farm is a must. Lyme Regis, 30mins away by car ( there is a bus from Burton Bradstock) is a fascinating place and the Cob ( French Lieutenants Woman) is quite atmospheric. We are Graston Farm veterans having stayed there many times when our children were small. Now we returned with our grandchildren and found everything even better. We had such a great welcome from Andrew and Chrissie. They had excellent suggestions about where to go and what to do, and the feeding of the lambs and calves was a delight for all ages. It's a lovely location and, given the fact there was now more accommodation to let, it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful.

Tips:

We found all the local pubs excellent - The Anchor in Burton Bradstock and The Crown in Puncknowle served delicious meals. We also had a lovely lunch at The Seaside Boarding House (don't be put off by the name - it's very fashionable!) at Hive Beach. Do visit Modbury Farm (walking distance) for local produce and delicious Jersey milk. Our daughter and family thought Pecorama in Beer was a fab day out for little ones and train fanatics.

A wonderful place to stay and provides a relaxing environment if you want to do nothing but sit in the garden area all day or have a barbecue or alternatively as your base to tour Dorset and beyond . The fact I keep recommending to friends and they stay as well says it all. Neighbours are the latest to be given the details and it’s possible they will at least look on the website.

Tips:

The walks to west bay and the hive are excelllent . Lyme Regis and in particular the wonderful beach . Walk to Burton Bradstock and visit the 3 Horshoes with good stock of beers and really good meals including a daily specials board . Some of the views are spectacular along the beach walks and the coast road . Seaton Tram is another one worth trying out on a nice day as it’s best on the open top deck and the staff are fun and friendly.so many options to choose from a week is insufficient.

Tips:

We loved walking on the Dorset Ridgeway above Abbotsbury, which was perfect space for our blind golden retriever. Abbotsbury gardens are well worth a visit - our May visit enabled us to see them in their spring costume! Lunch in The Hive Beach Cafe was lovely - great food in a stunning location. Walking on Hive Beach was a hit with our goldie, who cannot resist a paddle or a swim! Fossil hunting on Charmouth Beach proved successful with several very good examples found. Of course a visit to Durdle Door and Lukworth Cove will satisfy the geographer in you - beautiful! Unfortunately we did not have any exceptional pub food during our stay. We felt at home as soon as we walked in the door. The owners met us and showed us around, and answered all our questions. The cottage was very comfortable, clean and tidy - it felt like we were being welcomed into someone's home. A truly peaceful location, for a relaxing stay... with the added bonus of collecting fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning from the farm hens. The kids LOVED that. We will definitely be back.

Tips:

Burton Bradstock is just a short drive, or a nice walk, away with two fabulous pubs to choose from, Hive Beach Cafe (recommend) and the Seaside Boarding House which was perfect for an early evening cocktail over looking the sea. The village itself is beautiful for a stroll around and the river side walk is lovely when the weather is dry (the towpath can get VERY muddy in places). Between Burton and West Bay (another place to definitely visit) is Freshwater Holiday Park. Outside the summer holidays the park is open to the public and has an excellent pool (with slides) for the kids and a bowling alley - it can get busy so book ahead if you want to do that one day. Bridport is brilliant for a wander around; plenty of shops and cafes; and has a large Morrison's supermarket on the edge of town if you want to do your food shop for the week in one go! There are plenty of other places to visit too - Lyme Regis for example is just half an hours drive away. Great spot for a trip with family or friends.

Hive Beach café also walking distance is a must with amazing seafood and fabulous location right on the beach. Lots of lovely beaches and villages nearby and lots to do for all the family.

Delightful and friendly hosts. Barn cottage was very comfortable. A stair gate would have been appreciated, but the high chair was very welcome. A few smaller glasses/tumblers would have been good, and such long stemmed wine glasses were difficult to stock in dishwasher without the risk of breaking them. A wellie/boot under-cover store near the front door would have been really useful in such wet weather, as it was difficult to keep them dry for next use. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable holiday.

Tips:

Bridport street market was a revelation.

We stayed at Hopscotch. where we found everything exceeded our expectations. The cottage was light. spacious and perfectly set up to suit the needs of our 91 year old Mother who has limited mobility. it was so peaceful and the garden a delightful place to sit and soak up the afternoon sun. Thank you Andrew for your prompt response to enquiries before we arrived and for your warm welcome. It was a pleasure to meet the famous Cassie too! Thank you for a lovely stay. We will come back.

Tips:

Good food to be had at The Three Horseshoes and The Anchor. It's worth a visit to the Talbot Harris Cider Company which is just around the corner from the farm for the surprise of finding a lively bar in the barn. Great fun and most unexpected, plus cider for sale.

A friendly welcome to well-equipped, comfortable and stylish cottages. We were a large family group, so we booked two cottages next to each other and enjoyed walking on footpaths to the village and the beach, visiting the farm animals and sharing huge meals around the garden tables. We had a lovely time.

Tips:

The pubs in Burton Bradstock serve good food, the village shop and Post Office has basic essentials, there's a local cider farm and the Modbury Farm Shop, Hive beach is great, Lyme Regis is worth a visit, and several of our party spent a happy day at the Tank Museum. Cycling is possible, but there are some steep hills...lots of footpaths and good walking though.

15th July 2017:

The Farmhouse is stunning. It is evident that a lot of thought and care has been put into the conversion and decoration. It's spacious and light and has everything you need for a family. The two year old in our group loved the dinky single bedroom under the eaves and the adults enjoyed the spaciousness of the double bedrooms. The ensuite bathroom is big enough to party in! The large, folding patio doors from the lounge and tbe dining room invite you out into the lovely, spacious garden with its patio, eating area and lawn. A barbecue is provided. Our little one loved going with Chrissie to see how many eggs had been laid that morning, and then accompanying Andrew to feed the calves and lambs in the evening. There's Cassie the Jack Russell, too, so all-in-all it's animal heaven. The paddock at the rear of the cottages is great for ball games and generally letting off steam, and as it's within sight and fenced off, it's very safe. This was our first family holiday with our granddaughter and it couldn't have been lovelier.

Tips:

Burton Bradstock is very pretty and within easy walking distance. It's a short walk from there to the beach, too, so you don't necessarily need a car. There's an enjoyable, alternative walk over the hills, too. The village has two very nice pubs. The beach is fine shingle. There is a spacious car park close by. The Hive, right by the beach, serves lovely food, including sea food. The crab sandwich is enormous! We visited the aquarium at Dorchester, which is a nice day out (mostly outdoors so not great on rainy days.) Online booking saves quite a lot on tickets. Abbotsbury Farm is lovely and has lots to do indoors if it rains. The walk up the hill to St. Catherine's chapel is well worth it, and good for working up an appetite for a cream tea back in the village. There are so many lovely places to visit in this beautiful county and dozens of walks for those in need of fresh air and exercise. We can't recommend it enough.

Thank you for such a lovely stay. We thoroughly enjoy our weekend; couldn't have asked for better weather and Barn cottage was well equipped and appointed to make our stay very comfortable.

Tips:

Barn Cottage is well appointed with everything you need to comfortably self-cater. It has a beautiful established garden which was great for our toddler to run away and play in and for us to enjoy lovely evenings outside having a barbecue. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather! Highlights were having lunch at The Anchor Inn pub in the little village of Seaton, watching the lambs and calves being fed, and a lovely long walk and evening swim on Hive Beach. Hopscotch Cottage is a first class place to stay especially as we had three under 6s in our group. A very high standard of cleanliness and comfort and very well equipped, hosts welcoming and helpful. The walks around the area are easy to find and walking into the village was manageable for a 3 year old.

Tips:

Bridport is an interesting town - Leakers bread is delicious. Parking was difficult in Bridport on market day and perhaps the bus may be a better option. Excellent meal at the Three Horseshoes Inn but need to book early. Charmouth beach seems to have the most sand and gently shelves - some other beaches have rip tides and shelve steeply. Abbotsbury Children's Farm seems expensive but you can spend a day there - best to take picnic as food costs mount up if you have lunch. Dinosaur Museum in Dorchester is very good as is Fleet Air Arm Museum Nr Yeovil. Brilliant playground on approach to West Bay.

Excellent walks from the cottage doorstep. Half an hour takes you to Hive Beach & Cafe - lovely food. About an hour's walk and you're in iconic West Bay - Rachel's outdoor cafe on the quay is an absolute must - the smoked haddock chowder is to die for.

This was our second visit to Graston Farm and we have had another great week. We're already planning our next stay in spring. Anni & Trevor Read.

Tips:

Bridport market, on Wednesday and Saturday, is worth a visit. The food market on Sundays at St Michael's doesn't really get going until 11. There's antique and bric a brcc emporiums in that area as well. We had excellent food at the 3 Horse Shoes in Burton Bradstock.

22nd September 2016:

We have rated 4 for some aspects: 1. The narrow road to the cottage; 2. Dust and bits of old food (we think sweet corn kernels) under the sofa; 3. We think a washer/dryer would be good for winter visitors; we would have liked a baking sheet, bread bin and pizza cutter! We did love our stay though and found the cottage to be very comfortable.

Tips:

We loved Burton Bradstock, Sherbourne, Cerne Abbas, Corfe Castle & Abbotsbury. The castle at Sherbourne well worth a visit. Hive Beach Cafe and The Greyhound at Corfe Castle were very good. We found the bus service to Lyme Regis very tedious due to a half hour changeover at Bridport.

18th September 2016:

The cottage was equipped okay for the four of us but we felt should more people be staying more saucepans would be required. Prior to covering the sofas with our throws to protect them we noticed lots of dog hairs under the seat cushions from previous guests!....We also found a foil packet of tablets in one of the bedside drawers which we disposed of (could of been dangerous if a child had found them!)....The cottage was lovely & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We hope you find these comments helpful. The enclosed Paddock for the dogs was brilliant.

Tips:

The woodland walk to Golden Cap near Seaton was lovely.

Thanks so much for a lovely stay with a warm welcome at Graston Farm. Our children really enjoyed being able to collect the eggs from the chickens, see the calves being fed and walk Cassie the dog, while we enjoyed our well-equipped cottage and garden.

Tips:

Loved the walk right from the cottage through Burton Bradstock to the beach. Enjoyed eating at The Anchor & the Hive cafe, and food at Brassica in Beaminster is fantastic. Fun pottering round Bridport for the vintage market, searching for fossils on Charmouth beach and a day trip to Church Ope Cove on the Isle of Portland. Gardens at Mapperton were beautiful, and in the past we loved Abbottsbury Swannery & Sub Tropical Gardens. Kids particularly keen on SeaLife Centre in Weymouth.

We had a thoroughly great time staying with you. There are a few quibbles, but I mention these only in the spirit of constructive criticism, and we would have no hesitation about staying with you again if we were to holiday in the area. The fridge/freezer in Cobbles was very small for the needs of the 7 of us. Of necessity it was packed to the rafters and as a result didn't work too well. We could have done with a few extra large pans/glasses. We could have done with a few extra coat hangers.

Fossil hunting at Charmouth with Chris Pamplin (www.fossilwalks.com). Highly recommended.

We had a warm & friendly welcome. The accommodation is spacious, light, clean & has everything you need. It's great to have so much storage for clothing & belongings. Lovely outside areas, parking & access is great.

Tips:

You can walk from the farm on footpaths to the beach or continue along the South Coast path for longer walks. The Hive Beach Cafe is fabulous for all meals & if you are members of the National Trust parking is free. The Anchor in the town also serves excellent food but you do need to book. West Bay also has good cafes & a second hand/antique centre to wander around. All the countryside around is beautiful and the beaches clean. It's great fun fossil hunting on the beach between Lyme Regis & Charmouth but check the tide tables. Lovely gardens at Forde Abbey & Mapperton House. Also Athelhampton House is beautiful. RHS members can get in free to the gardens on certain days - it's worth checking.

Good location for walks etc. - not so great if you do not have a car. No assistance from the owners in terms of recommendations of places to go/see/eat. In comparison to other cottages I have stayed at and there have been a few, in terms of service this was by far the worst. There is a garden and a bbq - but if you are outside after 8pm you will get told to keep the noise down. I feel this is unreasonable considering most people will be on holiday - a cut off point of say 11pm would be more suitable for most people.

Tips:

Hive beach café - fantastic and service is incredible.

13th June 2016:

A lovely cottage with plenty of room for a multi- generation family. There was more available in the cottage than we thought as we have been to places where towels, tea towels and toilet rolls are not provided-fruit was much appreciated. Andrew was very helpful when I spoke to him on the phone before our stay and it was a bonus for the children being able to feed the calves and collect their own eggs and also to just walk out into the surrounding fields. Patio and garden a good size and well equipped. Because different areas have their own recycling schemes and people expect to recycle it may be helpful to add an explanation in the file about what is done in Dorset, although we may have missed this in your file.

Tips:

Dorchester Dinosaur Museum - small but well worth a visit for adults as well as children. Charmouth Heritage Centre - free - very interesting with lots of information about the coast and fossils. Yeovil fleet Air Arm Museum - excellent for small and large boys. Cogden Beach almost deserted perhaps because of the warning that it shelves but OK if you hold on to little ones - National Trust car park. Fantastic children's playground in West Bay. Three Horse Shoes easy walking from cottage and good food. A walk around the village after reading the booklet was very interesting. Palmer's Brewery Tour- meant extra luggage in the car on the way home! Bridport a bustling little town with a wonderful bread shop 'Leakes' and one of the best toy shops I've ever seen. No time to do and see everything so I hope we can make a return trip. Sherbourne Castle and gardens a place to spend a day.

Tips:

Hive beach is wonderful and can be reached via a very nice little stroll from Graston Farm. The Three Horseshoes pub in the village does very nice grub. The three Abottsbury attractions (farm, swannery, gardens) are great value for families if you get the combined ticket. Overall, it was an excellent stay and the accommodation was 5*. Very spacious, very clean and well equipped. A lovely large garden area and plenty of parking space. If you are looking for somewhere lovely to stay, then you can't get much better than this. However, you may be disappointed if you have come looking for a hands-on experience on a working farm, as the website suggests. Apart from being able to walk up to their cows in the field, there was no farm activity happening at all during our stay and this was very disappointing for us as we had chosen Graston Farm for our 3 year old toddler specifically because of these supposed activities.
